About
Hailed as a “lush voiced mezzo-soprano,” Melissa Fajardo has had the pleasure of performing in both the operatic and choral milieus for over a decade. She has sung roles with companies such as Florida Grand Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Portland Opera, Tulsa Opera, and Opera Naples to name a few. As a soloist, her most memorable concerts have been the Verdi Requiem on tour in Germany (Mainz, Trier, and Mosel), the Liebeslieder Walzer at the New York City Ballet, and Villalobos’ Choros No. 10 conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas. Her operatic highlights include, Filipyevna in Eugene Onegin (double cast with Denyce Graves), Rosina in Il Barbiere do Siviglia, and Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia.
Melissa is currently a private voice instructor throughout Central and North Jersey and was formerly an Adjunct Professor of Voice at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL. She is also an accomplished choral singer and holds the position of soloist/staff singer at Trinity Episcopal in Princeton, NJ. Melissa completed her BM in Voice Performance at Westminster Choir College and her MM in Voice Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Metropolitan Opera Sopranos, Sharon Sweet and Rita Shane.
